Galt House Hotel’s KaLightoscope Christmas Activities Tent

Join Santa and his entourage of elves at the Galt House Hotel’s KaLightoscope Christmas activities tent for a “Christmas in July”treat sure to delight the young and young at heart. Learn about plans, and sign-up to win tickets, for the Hotel’s inaugural year of KaLightoscope Christmas, a first of its kind in the U.S. holiday spectacle that begins this November only at the Galt House.
Activities planned include:
- On-site Summer Santa–Santa has taken a summer vacation to Louisville to meet with local children for a “half-way to Christmas check-up”. Kids will be able to meet with Santa and his elf entourage for an early update of their Christmas wish lists. Bring the camera for a perfect photo opportunity!
- Letters to Santa Station–Let the kids get an early start on writing and delivering to Santa personally their wish lists for this upcoming holiday season.
- Stickers and temporary tattoos, along with other giveaways, will be available.
- Cool down from the summer sun in our wading pool.

The Science of Fun! Activities Tent

Fun learning activities include:
Brain Twister - Learn the difference lobes of the brain and how they function when you play this classic game iwth a brain busting twist!
Good Vibrations - Explore how your ears interpret vibrations to hear sound when we build a replica ear drum and “listen” to jumping rice. Then, see how sound moves with a water xylophone!
Balancing Act - Discover how valuable your senses are by trying to perform tasks without them! Do you think you ca nhula hoop without using your hands?
Outta Sight! - Explore how your eyes and your brain work together to see the world around you. Check out some cool optical illusions and make your very own pair of cellophane shades!
Food to Fuel! - Investigate how the food we eat converts into energy our body can use. Then, explore how many calories are in some of your favorite foods and discover the amount of energy it takes to use them up!
Mighty Muscles - Our muscles are mighty important! Examine how they work while you make a balloon muscle of your own. Then, explore how the most important muscle in your body works hard to keep your blood pumping all day!July 3rd & 4th – 5pm-9pm
Be a Bonehead - You’re no dummy when you learn the importance of keeping your bones healthy. Get an up close look at bones affected by a loss of calcium.

Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln History Mobile
July 3rd & 4th – 5pm-9pm
Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln History Mobile explores Lincoln’s frontier childhood, his career from log house to the White House and his struggles to end slavery and lead the nation through the Civil War. The exhibit contains artifacts and images as well as audio, video and interactive elements to appeal to a variety of learners.
