Dare to Care will be at the Waterfront Independence Festival on both July 3rd and July 4th. Be sure to bring your canned goods and non-perishable items on both days to share with those less fortunate. You can make a difference!
Dare to Care procured and distributed 31.1 million pounds of food in 2009, including 3.5 million pounds of fresh produce. Of this food, 75% came from the food industry, 15% came from USDA commodities, 5% came from community food drives like this one, and 5% was purchased by the Food Bank to assure balanced diets are available to people in need.
More than 2,000 volunteers support the Food Bank’s mission each year, contributing over 20,000 hours. Dare to Care Food Bank serves 13 counties in the metropolitan area: Jefferson, Shelby, Bullitt, Oldham, Spencer, Carroll, Trimble, and Henry in Kentucky, and Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Washington, and Crawford in Indiana.
